About

To get quickly to the point: This is a blog about gaming. However, unlike most other gaming blogs, this particular site doesn’t really fill a niche, supply information or widely interesting critical commentary, or carry itself on humor alone. So, what am I going to do since I’ve got nothing useful planned? Essentially, I intend to post about ways in which games fall short or excel in my eyes, to think about how I define a good game, to reminisce about excellent moments in my gaming past. I’m going to rant and rave, blow steam out of my ears in frustration and stir myself up into a whimsical euphoria, and just generally have a good time. (If you know me, you’ll know exactly what I mean.)

About me, there’s not much to say. I’m a nineteen-year-old fella living in Bemidji, Minnesota. I’m studying English with a minor in philosophy at Bemidji State University and am just about to settle into what promises to be one of the most intense class schedules I’ve ever attempted. In my time in Minnesota, I got to be something of a gamer. Though I could never claim to be more than a ‘casual’ gamer, I do haul my six-hundred-pound computer out to LANs in the woods south of town every once and a while. There, a handful of friends and I eat cookies, listen to unhealthy amounts of booty bass and throw ourselves into the gaming.

It’s because of these good friends and these rare but glorious little LANs that I am compelled to write. We don’t get together as often as we used to, as college has a habit of killing old high-school hobbies. When we do, the technology gap between our computers keeps our gaming options slim, and of those options, few games really excite me. I have a reputation among the guys for complaining and wishing–pining, if you will–for a new, magical game that just manages to nail down the fun we’re looking for. This blog is officially for my own entertainment and satisfaction, but I dedicate it to them in hopes that I will unearth something for us, to scratch our collective itch, through my writing.
